On March 12th I am having my head shaved as part of the St Baldricks Day fund raising to raise money to help cure children's cancer.

So are you guys all frozen stiff like Al Capp's Lower Slobbovian's? This is an election yearan nobody has anything to say? Well, in doing my part an avowed ABBer (Anybody But Bush) to oust that smirking disaster from the White House I would urge everyone with an envirnmental activist bent to make a concerted effort to keep Ralph Nadr out of the race. Let him speak, endorse make deals with the Devil, but leave the votes with someone who can win. The unfortunate truth is that ideologues and clean living outsiders tend to be governmental failures. Remember Jimmy Carter? Wonderful, decent man-bad President. He went in to clean up Washington but discovered that, as an "outsider" he had no clout in Washington and was unable to make the deals needed to forward his agenda. I'm not against ideals and free speech, but whn its exercise puts the current bunch of bandits in power its time for a little self-discipline and a big reality check. Nader ran last time and the result has been the worst evironmental record of any administration in history. We will either have a Democratic President (most likely John Kerry, if current trends continue) or 4 more years of Bu__sh(it).

Man, what a cold winter. I'm still gainfully unemployed but keeping head above water so far. I just read that congress sent a bill to the senate re-establishing a 13 week extention to the basic 26 week unemployment insurance package. I'm getting close to termination so "Yea Congress!". Reading here about Mike's amazing weight loss (and the fact that I can't afford food anyway) has motivated me to lose a few (about 30 lbs. so far). A drop in a very large bucket but we'll see if I can keep it up.

In the depths of the nucular winter all the electrons froze rendering attempts at communication, as we know it, pointless. Politics leaves us hoping to be murdered by a maniac as a more honorable alternative to civic duty. Hopefully, by this time next year, we will experience, in the words of the subject line of an e-mail I recieved recently, quasicontinuous central brick countrywide, whatever that means.
