The Red Brick Times

Amendment to my last post. To Danny Boy add the Unicorn Song and Seven Old Ladies Got Stuck in The Lavat'ry. And, horror of horrors, this place, owned by a family from Sligo whose kids teach step dancing and play hurling, not only doesn't know how to draw a proper pint, they didn't even have Guiness in cans! One more twist in the ever tightening downward spiral of expectations. St. Patrick's Day is beginning to rival Christmas as a depression inducing event I can see what Yeats had in mind when said of another fellow, whose identity eludes me, that "Being Irish, he had an abiding sense of tragedy which sustained him through temporary periods of joy." Spring is just around the corner!

Well, I guess my next to last post was pathetically prophetic. All the electrons in my computer did freeze and three weeks and $150.00 later I'm almost up and running. The Oscar stupidity would have been good for a decent rant ( 11 awards for a boring movie that failed to adequately tell the story was telling, whatever!?!). American society spirals ever downward from the well-mannered, tasteful days of our youth. And, to add insult to injury, Hagedorn is BALD. Save kids from cancer just to scare them to death, nice guy! 31 years after TreeFall we again have snow on ST. Patrick's Day. Anybody up on thier numerology? Does mean something other than being pissed at having to scrape the windshield to get to a gig playing for a bunch of moron's drinking green Rolling Rock and asking for Danny Boy? Thankfully I'm playing in a place owned by a family from Sligo that knows how to draw a proper pint and whose kids teach step dancing and play hurling. They're still going to want to hear Danny Boy and throw up on the dance floor. Can't wait

Glad to have this opportunity to cheer everyone up.

Out of town folk might be interested to know that an Elyria landmark is soon to be no more. John Pais has sold the gas station to EMH hospital and will close for good within two weeks (the service location in the old JR Dall Ford bays will remain open). End of a 75 year era. I've been working there part time for a 3+ months now and once again will be out of a job. Jesus, am I on a streak or what? 0 comments
