Go down to the sea in ships? How does one go TO the sea in ships? I decided to investigate this conundrum but was having very little luck doing so in Elyria OH due to lack of sea. A dead end if ever there was one. I had to see the sea, so (little word play there) off I went to Jamestown RI. Yes indeedy, I am presently mooching off, er, I mean enjoying the hospitality, of Tony and Marsha here on beautiful Jamestown Island. Well, actually just Tony since Marsha is on Block Island 'till Thursday. As far as the conundrum goes Tony showed me where the sea is (pretty much everywhere, this is an island) but after that is washing his hands of the whole thing. Gotta find my own ship.

This is a test. This is only a test. Should this have been an actual emergency.... (try #2)

I hope everyone has received their FOWL newsletter and read it word for word. Don't forget the postcards. If you didn't attach 23 cent stamps their may be trouble. Ignore that 21 cent stamp thing, it's out of date.
You probably noticed that john's mood is continuing to slip and could use some support. A great way to do that would be to attend the FOWL picnic on June 19th. for details see www.picnic.fowl.org

I happened to be in the Avon/Avon Lake area one day last week, no doubt bent on some sort of tomfoolery as usual, when I said to myself "Self", I said, "doesn't Peggy Strang have some sort of shop around here"? Yep, she does. Even though it's on Detroit Road (kinda) it's not easy to spot, but I remembered enough of the directions from seeing her website once or twice that I found it ok. We hadn't seen each other for awhile and she (luckily)wasn't busy so we had a fine old visit. I actually learned how a loom functions. My mistake was then asking for the lowdown on spinning wheels. She answered by putting me to work on one. As you can imagine that was my cue to beat a hasty retreat. Still, seeing Peggy and her shop was definitely a fun time and if you're in the area I highly recommend a visit (just don't ask about spinning wheels).
